Fire up the Aldridge for Amare Talk Again?

CBSSports.com is now reporting that the Blazers have offered Aldridge, Bayless and the expiring contract of Raef Lafrentz for Amare Stoudemire.

A piece from the CBS article:
The Portland Trail Blazers have made a strong play for Amare Stoudemire, discussing a package that includes LaMarcus Aldridge, Jerryd Bayless, and Raef LaFrentz's $12.7 million expiring contract, a person with direct knowledge of the talks told CBSSports.com Tuesday.

The Blazers, among the most active teams in the league as the Feb. 19 trade deadline draws near, have joined Chicago, Miami, Detroit, Toronto, Golden State, and New Jersey among a growing list of teams that have discussed acquiring Stoudemire from the Suns.
Hmmm...I'm actually not sure where I stand on this to tell you the truth.  It was just yesterday that I was reading quotes from McMillan saying that the team would not be forcing a trade to try and make a run at a title this year, yet this potential trade seems to go completely against that rationale.

I think Amare is a hell of a talent, but if the future is on everyone's mind, hasn't the word from Pritchard been to "stay with what we've got"?  Amare is still young though...and he does posterize people way the hell more than LaMarcus ever will.  And he's not afraid to venture to the phyiscal side of life.  Basically, I'm about to say the word that drives Aldridge completely bonkers and you probably guessed it..."soft".

Your thoughts?

My biggest concern is that he would mess with our locker room chemistry. If he can not be a distraction, sure.

I'm completely with you on that. This team has become so close that it would be hard to imagine a new and big personality brought into the mix.

I would be way more for the trade if it didn't involve Aldridge. If we could do that and have Aldridge come off the bench, we would have the deepest bench in the league, and if it didn't work out, Amare's contract is up in 2010 anyway, so we cant get fucked either way. But i dont know about giving up Lamarcus, Amare is a head case.

It would be difficult to give up Aldridge especially with the growth we've all seen. If there is a way to keep him and grab Amare, I'm sure KP will cook it up. :)

Can't see this happening. I'd rather have Aldridge than Amare anyways.

There has been too much talk now for it to ever happen. Once speculation hits "vomit" level like this, it's usually been nixed by somebody that matters.

We need defense more than anything. Stephen Hawking plays more defense than Stoudemire.

Amare defines Posterizing

Anonymous 2/11/09, 3:38 PM

Is that like someone saying "look up 'posterizing' in the dictionary and there's a picture of..."?

KMan - All that talk about vomit, I think you're anorexic.
How about Oden for Adam Morrison?

I think your nuts. Are you serious? LA is soft at times, but most of the time he plays with enthusiasm for the game. Amare is not right for the blazers and you know it. Bayless is out PG of the future. When he develops a better shooting touch, they are going to be the best team. Amare is nto part of the plans. If this trade goes through there goes a lot of the fan base who fell in love with those two players.

Morrison...now that calls for more vomiting.

PDH: This trade won't happen but it get us all a couple of days worth of speculation and chatter. And Bayless needs a lot more than a shooting touch. His entire game needs to be transformed if anyone thinks he'll be a leading point guard.

About This Blog

This Portland Trail Blazers blog definitely isn't your basic "recap/report the news" kind of blog. We tend to lean a little to the sporadic and unsystematic side of this young and sexy basketball team. Oh, and you'll definitely see a lot of Blazer Dancer action around here, so bring your bucket of ice.
