Blazers Play Awful and Hand One to the Warriors. 111-106

I'm hoping that many of you did NOT have the pleasure of watching this utter suck-fest of a basketball game.  From starting the game down 9-0 to letting some rookie, toolbox named Morrow put up 25 points, this game was disgusting.  Oh and the help from the referees wasn't making the night any easier.

Quick Recap:

The game was ugly from the get-go but the Blazers managed to hang around while rookie no-names dropped 3's and former Dukies flopped.  It continued to be sloppy throughout with the Blazers somehow going into the break only down 2.  The second half didn't get any better and the Warriors actually stretched a lead to over 10.  Of course, "your" Portland Trail Blazers manage another comeback and looked to almost pull off a miracle when 3 zebras decided to drink from the Blazer trough of hope; sucking up all chances that Portland created for themselves with squeaky little whistles and bad gelled hair.

Game thoughts in fantastical bulleted format:
  • Oden ended Biedrins double-double streak.  We told you didn't we?
  • Oden dominated down the stretch with his best game to date.
  • Roy was solid, but made a bonehead play, down 3 with 10 seconds to play.
  • Stephen Jackson was awful, except the zebras handed him 10 free throws; which he made.
  • Poor LaMarcus found plenty of time on the bench.
  • Sergio looked very confident and made some major plays.
  • Rudy was active, just couldn't drop the big one.
  • Corey Maggette is rising as one of the most annoying players in the game.
  • But Anthony Morrow as a rookie is far worse.
  • Nate should have stood up for the team.  This was his chance to make a stand.
  • At least now, they are coming home!

Box score.

We lost to a Warrior team without their best player and all you could blame are the refs? dry your tears already

LOL, you are one sad pathetic Blazer's fan and blogger.

Your team lost to a team with undrafted players and players from d-league. You should go screw yourself and the big ego that came with the Blazer's and fans.

A disappointing finish... as much as I would like to blame the referees, I think the Blazers have noone but themselves to point the finger at.

* Our most turnovers to date -- awful from that perspective
* The ploy at the end of the game was an interesting one, one that has worked in the past. Try to get a two and then assume they will come back and score, so you go for another basket to win. But the rule on the road is, you always go for the big bucket straight up, so the three should have been the option at the end. Don't know what play Nate drew up and if it was played to plan or not
* Outlaw did break the free throw line. I don't know why he didn't clang the FT hard off the front of the rim, like most people try to do... another unusual choice
* LaMarcus definitely did get the raw end of the deal on a few calls and just had a really off night. We need him back in form!
* There was a helluva lot of jersey-tugging on both players on that Rudy call... I'd like to know what he said to deserve a T so quickly though
* Oden's play was encouraging if nothing else
* Anthony who?

A Stern Warning

Damn! I go to bed and some random Warrior forum picks us up to spread the word on a win they didn't deserve. Nice! Welcome Warrior honks!

Let's just say that your jobber team turned the ball over practically 3 times on out of bounds plays with a huge cushion in the final seconds. If it weren't for Mark Ayotte handing that last second foul to you on Rudy Fernandez, (which was the wrong call btw) you would have choked away a sure win.

The loss hurts, but at least I know that the Blazers barely lost to a team on the road while they clearly played their worst game of the year.

Oh, and how are those 2 Memphis losses feeling? Oh, and another one to Sacramento. Oh, and overtime needed to beat the T-Wolves. Wow. You have a bright season ahead of you!

Love ya Golden State fan!

Can you say sour grapes?? Jesus man I think you need to get laid...and FYI, Anthony Morrow's the real deal. Kid can flat-out shoot.

Mookie - I hear ya. Hard fought game, awful play by the Blazers and the Warriors took advantage of that awful play. Plus, when a gap-toothed newbar is raining 3's, maybe someone should decide to step out and take that away?

My God you're annoying...we beat you without Monta Ellis...just let that sink in. And blame shooting 37% from the field for the loss, not the refs.

Did you not read the part where I said the Blazers played awful?

Steven 11/19/08, 9:17 AM

Bad game? Yes.
Sucky plays down the stretch? Yes.
Did PDX deserve to win the game? No.

Portland (on paper) should have won this game. But throughout the season there will be those "should win" games that we lose and there will be those "will probably lose" games (Miami and Orlando just last week come to mind) that the Blazers will win. As long as they learn something from EVERY game then it's not a total loss. They are improving and the future is still brighter for the Blazers then it is for the majority of the teams in the NBA.

Go Blazers!

Great points Steven.

But it's still fun to get these Warrior fans all riled up. :)

Matt 11/19/08, 9:36 AM

Yeah because, let's be realistic. The Warriors 4 guard, disorganized style of play will ultimately get you NOWHERE. I felt like I was watching street ball. How can Maggette feel good about himself? "Yeah I had 4 flops tonight, pretty good night." He's annoying.

morrow killed it, I'll admit that. Blazers turned the ball over way too much. oden 22 pts 10 rebs 2 blks and yet, people still talk smack. Clearly that last play was a clear path foul. 2 fts and the ball. rudy is 94% ft. I admit warriors played better overall but that last play would've tied the game and the ball.

About This Blog

This Portland Trail Blazers blog definitely isn't your basic "recap/report the news" kind of blog. We tend to lean a little to the sporadic and unsystematic side of this young and sexy basketball team. Oh, and you'll definitely see a lot of Blazer Dancer action around here, so bring your bucket of ice.
