The NBA and Sprite with the help of LeBron James, are holding a series of dunk competitions this summer around the United States in hopes of bringing the best non-NBA dunkers to the 2010 NBA All-Star game. And fortunately for all of you, they are holding an event here in Portland!
During this year's Rose Festival on May 30 and 31, local dunkers will have a chance at winning $1,000 and possibly have another opportunity to compete on the big stage of the All-Star game for an added $10,000.
Here is some of the important info:
• One champion dunker will be selected in each of the eight Slam Dunk Showdown cities, winning $1000 and other great prizes
• Two champions will be selected via the online video submission contest
• Of the ten total champions, the public will vote for their favorites and the top four dunkers will be sent to the 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas to compete for the $10,000 Grand Prize and the opportunity to be involved on the Saturday night NBA Slam Dunk Contest
• This is an official NBA Sprite sponsored event, and LeBron James certified, which means the best of the best will be attracted to compete. The stakes are high
• And it's free to attend!
